Nigerians want Mr. President to Solve Power Problems(Click for Details)

A recent survey of Nigerians conducted by NOI Polls shows that the President Goodluck Jonathan’s targets are in line with the key concerns of the citizenry. A majority of the respondents (45%) said he should focus on power. 20% of Nigerians believe that the president should concentrate on jobs/employment, 12% listed electoral reform as priority while infrastructural development was mentioned by 9% of the respondents.

Sub-Saharan Africa Leads World in U.S. Approval (Click for Details)

Across 110 countries Gallup surveyed in 2009, median approval of U.S. leadership was 51%, up from 34% in 2008. Approval during President Barack Obama's first year in office topped 75% in 20 sub-Saharan African countries, with Kosovo, Ireland, and Albania joining them as the countries or areas most approving.

Country's Leadership Matters to Potential Migrants (Click for Details)

Gallup survey of 148 countries shows that the potential migrants give positive ratings to the leadership of those countries where they want to go to. his is true among migrants who would like to move to the United States -- the No. 1 desired destination worldwide -- and six other top destination countries that Gallup asked adults to rate the leadership of, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Russia, France, and Germany.

Gallup surveys in 18 sub-Saharan African countries show few residents put money in the bank: 19% overall say they have personal bank accounts. South Africans (49%) are the most likely to say they have a bank account, while 1% of respondents in Niger and the Democratic Republic of the Congo say the same.

Multi Country poll- Educating Boys and Girls in the Muslim World

In all eight predominantly Muslim nations surveyed in 2009 a strong majority say it is equally important to educate girls and boys. This opinion is shared by more than eight-in-ten in Lebanon (96%), Indonesia (93%), Turkey (89%), Pakistan (87%) and the Palestinian territories (85%).

Global Views of United States Improve While Other Countries Decline

Global views of the United States have improved markedly over the last year while views of many countries have become more negative, according to the latest BBC World Service poll across 28 countries. For the first time since the BBC started tracking in 2005, views of the United States' influence in the world are now more positive than negative on average.

Tolerance and Tension: Islam and Christianity in Sub-Saharan Africa

As compared with other parts of the world, sub-Saharan Africa is the most religious zone in the world. The vast majority of people in many sub-Saharan African nations are deeply committed to the practices and major tenets of one or the other of the world's two largest religions, Christianity and Islam, though traditional African religious beliefs and practices have not disappeared. Rather, they coexist with Islam and Christianity.
